LOGLINE

The comedic life and times of an African-American family, beginning with their arrival in America on slave ships to their status a century later, after finally gaining their freedom and facing the challenges of finding employment, racial prejudice, and all of the temptations in life that could spell the difference between failure and success in a hostile and unforgiving world.

1-PAGE SYNOPSIS

SHEBA is a West African healer in a mountain village, minding her own business and practicing her medicine and voodoo rituals to help others.  All of a sudden, she is abducted and marched down to the coastline in chains, loaded onto an overcrowded ship, and transported to the United States.  She arrives on a cotton plantation and in time meets fellow slave KUNTA KINTE, who keeps claiming that he is of African royalty, though he doesn't seem to have the necessary poise and discipline usually characteristic of the noble class.  He proceeds to fool everyone around him, but he cannot fool her, because she is descended from the royal class for real, and her bloodline has a long history of healing and academics that stretches back to the legendary learning center at Timbuktu.  As the years pass, this family endures the hardships of life on an American plantation, through the American Civil War, and onward until finally winning their freedom and moving from the Carolinas north to Chicago.  Each episode in this feature film series focuses on a specific issue this family has had to face - and the good times they enjoyed.  The story is so extensive that it could take decades and many episodes to tell, but they are stories worth telling, and will hopefully shed new light and give respect to a people who built and defended the United States in times of war and continue to make their presence felt in such arenas as athletics, music, science, and the arts.

WHY?

- Objectives

Our purpose is to educate and inspire...  By showing audiences an in-depth look at the history of the African-American experience, we hope to minimize some of the prejudices that have always haunted them, and make people better understand that slavery took away everything they had, and if they were put in the same situation, it would be a great injustice against humanity...

Because one of the show's supporting characters is an aspiring historian-filmmaker, we get to see the road one has to travel in order to become part of those two worlds...

REVISED:  WEDNESDAY, 02/06/19 - 1:51 PM - 41-031 WAILEA ST. - WAIMANALO, HAWAII

- OBJECTIVES:  As with all of our projects, our goal is to:

- EDUCATE:

- Teach history and give our audiences some background into why things are the way they are.

- Debunk the myths, hoaxes, and "fake news."

- INSPIRE:  We hope to create a sense of wonder to inspire a new generation of Americans to take action and do the right things.  Because our show's supporting characters is a dreamer who aspires to greatness, our audiences can follow their respective paths.

- OUR ACTIONS DEFINE OUR CHARACTER:  We need to show our audiences what road one has to travel in order to achieve our lifelong dreams.  Nothing is promised or guaranteed.  Nothing is free.  One has to suffer some pain to elevate one's life to the next level.

- CALL TO ADVENTURE:  When we are personally challenged by an evil person or called out by evil events (criminal activity, war, etc.) occurring within our community, we need to answer, or the evil will eventually reach us after it destroys our neighbors.
