CASE STUDY: Star Trek

REVISED: SATURDAY, 08/04/18 - 11:19 PM

IT'S ORIGINAL INCARNATION

- The movies and the direction the producers have taken it.

Concept:  "To go where no man has gone before."

HOW I WOULD CHANGE IT

PROTAGONIST'S VIEWPOINT:

- The crew of the USS Enterprise are out to gather and gain knowledge.

- The crew of the USS Enterprise are out to mediate disputes in the galaxy.

ANTAGONIST'S VIEWPOINT:

- The crew of the USS Enterprise are stealing or otherwise tampering with knowledge, artifacts, and cultural property.

- The crew of the USS Enterprise are meddling with the affairs of sovereign nations.

- The crew of the USS Enterprise are crossing a moral line by forcing their viewpoint and religion on others.

- Certain alien beings want to be left alone.  They are anti-social due to negative past experiences with strangers.

THIS OPENS UP A MYRIAD OF POSSIBILITIES:

- Relevance to our audience...

- Draw on stories from mankind's varied history...
